You can listen to the full interview in Spanish<\/span> <span style=\"color: #ff4858;\"><a style=\"color: #ff4858;\" href=\"https:\/\/efectocolibri.com\/es2-latam-impulsando-la-colaboracion-entre-ecosistemas-de-impacto-en-latam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>We speak to Linda Peia, Senior Director of <span style=\"color: #ff4858;\"><a style=\"color: #ff4858;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ashoka.org\/es-mx\/country\/mexico\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ashoka<\/a><\/span> Latin America, Armando Laborde, Partner and Strategic Director of <a href=\"https:\/\/nvgroup.org\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #ff4858;\">New Ventures<\/span><\/a>, and Daniela Bol\u00edvar, Communications Director at <a href=\"https:\/\/vc4a.com\/pes-latam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #ff4858;\">PES Latam<\/span><\/a>.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>We explore what are the necessary initiatives to overcome the main challenges of the social entrepreneurship ecosystem in Latin America, and how the <a href=\"https:\/\/es2latam.vc4a.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #ff4858;\">ES2Latam<\/span><\/a> platform can help to do so.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<section class=\"pdf_page\" aria-label=\"Page 7\">\n<div class=\"textlayer\"><\/div>\n<\/section>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #ff4858;\">We should become more sensitive or reconnect with the problems<\/span><\/strong>, so that everyone takes action<strong>.<\/strong> In a globalized world, we can easily lose closeness with the problems. When it happens, the level of <strong><span style=\"color: #ff4858;\">empathy<\/span><\/strong> is lower. As social entrepreneurs do, we need to engage personally with the problems we want to solve. (Linda)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Another thing that we need to do as an ecosystem is <strong><span style=\"color: #ff4858;\">change who is the protagonist. <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #ff4858;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">P<\/span><\/span>erhaps the protagonist shouldn&#8217;t be the person (social entrepreneur) anymore, we <span style=\"color: #000000;\">must make the <strong><span style=\"color: #ff4858;\">systemic change<\/span><\/strong> <\/span>the protagonist and work towards that shared goal. (Linda)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We need to learn<span style=\"color: #000000;\"> how to <strong><span style=\"color: #ff4858;\">organize<\/span><\/strong> ourselves and <strong><span style=\"color: #ff4858;\">collaborate<\/span><\/strong>. The collaboration between actors is critical to cover the hypercomplex challenges we are facing <\/span>(Daniela).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">We should\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #ff4858;\">support<\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>the entrepreneur by creating the right<strong>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #ff4858;\">infrastructure<\/span>.\u00a0<\/strong>There isn&#8217;t an infrastructure to support social entrepreneurs from when they start. For example, entrepreneurs spend a lot of time, 2 or 3 years, or more before they recognize themselves as such, and they understand that there is an ecosystem that can support them. <\/span>(Daniela)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span style=\"color: #ff4858;\">More key actors, more entrepreneurs, more resources are required: <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">donators, investors, media, trainers, governments, universities. <\/span>I believe that this would be key and very exciting to see more better-quality actors. (Armando)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">We must create an\u00a0<\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><span style=\"color: #ff4858;\">innovative culture<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Latin America isn&#8217;t a region strongly invested in technology development, but there is a lot of innovation in strategies and intervention models.<\/span>\u00a0(Armando)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>We need more <strong><span style=\"color: #ff4858;\">formal, open, and democratic meeting places<\/span><\/strong> with better accessibility to young people seeking to get involved in social and environmental impact initiatives. This started as a volunteer project saying: &#8221; so many things have happened on the continent and we need to have a place to have all of the opportunities for entrepreneurs&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>As the years went by, the platform itself (VC4A) was refined to a point where the platform nowadays is an &#8220;excuse&#8221; for making all of the relationships and interactions seen and tangible that exist between the ecosystems and their actors. (Daniela)<\/p>\n<p>A platform like this helps us to give structure to the actors a lot, to make them seen, it facilitates new actors to be able to find themselves and doesn&#8217;t depend on the ability to invest a lot of time networking. It allows new actors to incorporate themselves, to build confidence and go on generating a virtuous circle and a maturing effect, the acceleration of the ecosystem. (Armando)<\/p>\n<p>I think what differentiates this platform from others is that it isn&#8217;t a platform where just one entrepreneur can go and find advertisements and other entrepreneurs, but they can also use the same platform to find their own audience or for their own network.
