Cookie Policy

What are cookies

As is common practice with almost all professional websites, this site uses cookies, which are tiny files that are downloaded to your computer. This page describes what information they gather, how we use it and why we sometimes need to store these cookies. We will also share how you can prevent these cookies from being stored; however, this may affect your browsing experience and downgrade or ‘break’ certain elements of this site’s functionality.

How we use cookies

We use cookies for a variety of reasons detailed below. Unfortunately, in most cases there are no industry standard options for disabling cookies without completely disabling the functionality and features they add to this site. It is recommended that you leave on all cookies if you are not sure whether you need them or not, in case they are used to provide a service that you use.

User consent

In general, when the installation and/or use of cookies entails personal data processing, regardless of whether they are first or third party cookies and session or persistent, Efecto Colibrí, as the data controller, shall provide the relevant information and request the user’s prior, informed consent to use their personal data.

The only cookies that do not require such consent are those that exclusively permit communication between the user’s equipment and the network and, strictly, those used to provide a service requested by the user. For example, those excluded would include so-called “technical cookies” (e.g. those needed to browse the platform or application), “personalisation cookies” (e.g. those that allow the site to recognise the user’s language, etc.), and “security cookies” (e.g. those that detect repeated incorrect attempts to log in to a site).

Disabling cookies

You can prevent the setting of cookies by adjusting the settings on your browser (see your browser’s help section for how to do this). Be aware that disabling cookies will affect the functionality of this and many other websites that you visit. Disabling cookies will usually result in disabling certain functionality and features of this site. It is therefore recommended that you do not disable cookies.

The cookies we set

Should you create an account with us, we will use cookies to manage the signup process and for general administration. These cookies will usually be deleted when you log out; however, in some cases, they may remain afterwards to remember your site preferences when you log out. We use cookies when you are logged in so that we can remember this fact. This prevents you from having to log in every single time you visit a new page. These cookies are typically removed when you log out to ensure that you can only access restricted features and areas when you log in. Cookies may be of the following types:

  • They may be either first-party or third-party cookies. First-party cookies are those sent to or downloaded onto the user’s terminal equipment from the platform (publisher) and are handled by the latter, while third-party cookies are those that are sent to or downloaded onto the user’s terminal equipment from other domains or computers not handled by the platform (publisher), but by another entity that handles the data obtained via the cookies.
  • They may also be either session or persistent cookies. Session cookies are designed to collect and store data while the user accesses the platform, for the main purpose of storing information that is only kept to provide the service requested by the user on a single occasion. Persistent cookies, however, are stored on the user’s terminal and may be accessed and processed over a period of time defined by the entity responsible for that cookie.
  • Cookies may be technical. These cookies allow the user to browse the platform and use the different options and services provided through it. These may be used, for example, to control traffic and data communication, identify the session, access restricted areas, recall the elements of a contractual request, use security features whilst browsing, store content to show videos or audio, or to share content through social networks.
  • They may also be used for personalisation, which refers to those cookies that allow the user access to the service under specific predefined characteristics, according to certain criteria associated with their terminal. These include, for example, the type of browser through which the user accesses the service, the regional configuration from which the service is accessed, etc.

This site also offers e-commerce and payment facilities and some cookies are essential to ensure that your order is processed properly.

When you submit data through a form, cookies may be set to remember your user details for future correspondence.

In order to provide you with a great experience on this site, we provide the functionality to set your preferences for how this site runs when you use it. In order to remember your preferences, we need to set cookies so that this information can be recalled whenever you interact with a page that is affected by your preferences.

Third party cookies

In some cases we also use cookies provided by trusted third parties. The following section describes which third party cookies you might encounter through this site.

This site uses Google Analytics, which is one of the most widespread and reliable analytical solutions on the internet, to help us understand how you use the site and how we can improve your experience. These cookies may track things such as how long you spend on the site and which pages you visit so that we can continue to produce engaging content for you.

For more information on Google Analytics cookies, please see the official Google Analytics page.
