Dear Hummingbird,

This year brings a lot of movement. Civil society is reaching the limit of what we can tolerate: deeply disillusioned with those in power, and increasingly aware that the old ways of doing things must come to an end.

Perhaps this is still more a longing than a fully tangible reality. But we feel it—patriarchy, extremism, individualism, and fear have brought us to a breaking point. We may be witnessing the final stretch of an era shaped by a model that has prioritized money and power over the wellbeing of people and the planet.

It’s possible there are still difficult times ahead—conflict, suffering, disenchantment—before the structures that uphold so much pain and destruction fully collapse. We hope this final phase won’t last too long. They do not represent us.

And while these old models fade, there is much to do. It’s time to imagine—and begin organizing for—alternatives that can hold us once this transition has passed and war is no longer in fashion. Even if it feels far away, it is our responsibility to start envisioning and designing new models for humanity, now.

At Efecto Colibrí, we contribute our grain of sand by driving systemic change through narrative transformation. We’re here to reshape the stories that, quietly, shape our realities. In times of noise and polarization, narrative clarity is a form of care—and a condition for systemic change.

We do narrative research, co-design systemic change narratives, and activate them through stories that build understanding and move the conversation forward. We also train teams so they can do this work themselves.
